Special Education teacher candidates, in small teams, participate in action research projects during their final year of study. In these, they investigate and evaluate the evidence associated with identification and use of High Leverage Practices. HLPs (McLeskey et al., 2019) have been identified by the Council for Exceptional Children and the CEEDAR Center.

Each teacher candidate team reflects on the extent to which coursework and field experiences have prepared them for implementation of HLPs, select a HLP for investigation and develop a professional presentation of their findings. The presentations seek to bridge the gap in teacher implementation of HLPs by building knowledge of the practice and identifying different steps or strategies to facilitate use in the classroom.

In previous years, these presentations were delivered in person at conferences. For the 2020-2021 academic term they have been converted to online discourses, due to the coronavirus pandemic, displayed at this website.

Arkansas teachers, practitioners and families should find these tools and resources of benefit.
